July 25, 1928 - June 28, 2021
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen "Grandma" Boyd.
Born July 25th 1928 in Medicine Hat, Alberta to William Edger Fretts & Tressa Mackenzie. She was the "baby" of her siblings. Helen passed at the age of 92 at her home in Mission on June 28th 2021, in the company of her immediate family.
Predeceased by her husband James and survived by her 8 children, 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and her 7 great-great grandchildren.
Beyond her biological, she was a grandmother to many in her community as well. Helen's love for children blossomed with her volunteer work at École Mission Central Elementary where she took over and ran the Lunch program and started the Breakfast program. She was a lively member of the P.A.C, loved by both the staff and students.
She was honoured by the Stó:lō Nation in a blanketing ceremony for her 80th birthday and was awarded a Woman Of Distinction by the Mission Pathfinder's Association during her time at the school. In later years of life she volunteered at her local Salvation Army Store, having been a part of the church since her youth.
A celebration of life will be held in her honour at a later date when her family are able to come together.
She will be dearly and deeply missed by those whose lives she touched and her memories celebrated and cherished as the treasures they are.
Until next we meet, in a place where time stands still and we may laugh again.
Rest In Peace"Grandma" Boyd
