BERGEN; Henry


In loving memory of Henry Bergen who went to be with his Lord and Saviour very peacefully on April 29, 2015 at the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission. Henry was born on September 11, 1930 in the home of his parents, Gerhardt and Suzanne Bergen in Adelsheim, Ukraine. Predeceased by his parents and three siblings, as well as his loving wife, Tina in 1994 and two sons, Dan (1974) and Garry (2008) and daughter-in-law Joanne (2008). Dad was the second oldest of 6 children. In 1948, he, along with his mom and siblings immigrated to Canada on the Volendam ship and settled in Kelowna. In 1954 he married our mother, Tina and they had three sons and two daughters. Dad was a hard worker and did many different jobs throughout his life - janitorial, lumberjack, cement finisher and framer. He even built the house he was still living in! Dad also enjoyed gardening, playing the organ and especially loved his flowers and the church hymns. He accepted the Lord as his Saviour as a young teen and followed Him all his days. He will be greatly missed by his son Eric (Kathy), and daughters Linda (John) and Laurie, also his grandchildren Shaun (Lindy), Jennifer, Bradley, Richard, Jolie (Jordan), Chantal (Brad), Brenda (Keith), Brad (Stephanie), Kris (Kayla) and Jonathan as well as great grandchildren, Hudson, Curtis, Payton and Carter. Dad is also survived by his brother, Richard from Winnipeg and sister Erna from Langley, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial for Dad on Friday, May 8th at 11:00 am in the Clearbrook MB Church, 2719 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford.
