1976 -2024
We are heartbroken to share that Ian Norman Shaw departed from our lives far too soon on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Ian was born on July 9, 1976, in New Westminster, BC. He grew up in North Delta before settling in Mission, where he started his family and built a life filled with love, adventure, and community. Ian pursued a career as a corrections officer at Fraser Regional Corrections Centre, where he was a well-respected and admired leader. He will be remembered by his many contributions, including his dedication as a long-standing member on the emergency response team. His mentorship and kind heart left a lasting impact on his colleagues and all who were fortunate to know him.
A lifelong sports and athletics enthusiast, Ian loved camping, cherished his holidays, and was looking forward to future adventures and travels with his family. Known for his warmth, humor, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life, Ian was a devoted animal lover who shared his home with two loyal German Shepherds and his beloved cats.
Ian is survived by his wife Angie, his son Parker, his parents Barry and Jeannie Shaw (née McRae); his sister Laura (Phylmore) his many beloved nieces & nephews, family members, Godmother (Michelle) and his lifelong best friend, Daryl Maduke and Parker's best friend Ryder, who he cherished.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deep gratitude the outpouring of love and support from all who knew Ian. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on December 8th at the Clark Theatre in Mission.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the GoFundMe set up to ensure Parker's future in sports and athletics: https://gofund.me/902e3700.
