1926 - 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our Mother/Nana/Bana who left us on March 15, 2024. Predeceased by Husband Allen and Son John; and survived by Daughters Judy and Lynda, Grandchildren Robert (Maria), Mike (Kelly), Dyan, Dillon, Raja, Sonny, Harmony, and Great-Grand Children Alister, Cassandra, Ravyn, John and Zeph.

Ida spent her early years on a homestead in Northern Saskatchewan, and in 1937 she relocated with her family to the Fraser Valley. Many times Ida would retell the story of her first impression of the valley "this looks like the Garden of Eden", it became a life-long sentiment. Ida made everyone she met feel special, cared about others and touched lives and hearts everywhere she went. She loved her family with all her heart. In her last days she expressed gratitude for the gift of living a long life of wonderful experiences with family, friends, and her dogs. Ida's work experiences included Farming, Care Aide, Director of Food Services. After retirement she volunteered 30 years for the Mission Hospital Auxiliary Cottage Thrift Shop. She was known for her caring and compassion with wiliness to help others less fortunate. Gardening was her life-long passion and her gardens were beautiful masterpieces enjoyed by her many friends and family. Year round she could be found working on her gardens. She delighted in sharing bouquets, vegetables, and propagated plants with all who visited her.

The family would like to thank Dr. DeKlerk for his expert, compassionate care over the years; the kind care of the Drs. and Staff at McKenney Creek Hospice; and a special thank you to Pastor Taniero and Pastor Davin for their spiritual support to Ida and her family. Ida was a devout Christian and found solace in that we would all meet again one day. A private ceremony celebrating Ida's life was held at the Hatzic Cemetary with her remains now resting at the grave site of her Son John. Ida was the heart and soul of our family and is dearly missed.
