Ila BRYDE

September 16, 2010

BRYDE, Ila Bernice

Ila Bryde was born in Penzance SK on Nov. 23, 1927 and passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital on Sept. 16, 2010, due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Ila was predeceased by her husband John H. Bryde (in 1976); parents James and Florence Harwood of Abbotsford and sister Myrna Cruikshank (Cookie) of Coquitlam. She is survived by her brother Elton Harwood (Maureen - predeceased) of Langley; daughters Connie Thurber (Doug - predeceased) and Deborah Keys (George); sons Kirk (Carol), Craig (Rose), Ted (Valerie), and Perry; grandaughters Tara and Kali Thurber, Kylah Bryde Edstrom (Mike), Jennifer Adam (Rick), and Raelene Bryde; and grandsons Kristofer, Jayme (Krista), Jeffry, Mikel (Nick), Ryan (Sue), and Barry Bryde; Spencer and Bryn Keys; and 7 great-grandchildren. Ila was an Abbotsford resident since 1954, and worked from 1956-1972 at Star Meat Co. with her husband John while raising their 6 children. She loved to cook and entertain friends and family, and at her kitchen table there was always room for "one more". Gatherings and parties at the Brydes always included heaping platefuls of food, fun, and games.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 1:00 pm at the Calvin Presbyterian Church (2597 Bourquin Crescent E) in Abbotsford. Memorial donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation or the MS Society of Canada.

“I’m at peace.”
