NIKKEL, James Abram (Jim)

Passed away peacefully on December 28, 2008, in Langley, at the age of 81.

He was born January 12, 1927, in

Bassano Alberta, the eldest son of 14

children. He is survived by Tina (Schroeder) his wife of 44 years; 3

children: Mark (Waltraud), Paul,

Charmaine (Dan) Deyette; 5 grandchildren: Daniel, Marie-Therese, Josef, Rebecca and Ashlee; 3 brothers and 7 sisters; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was a steel fabricator by trade but also undertook other adventurous careers including mining and exploration, logging, pipeline construction and ranching and worked on the construction of the first trans-Pacific telegraph cable. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cared deeply for his

family. His pastimes included hiking, skiing, fishing, motorcycling, astronomy, reading and inventing. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

A funeral service will be held Monday, January 5, 2009, at 10:00 am, at the

chapel of Personal Alternatives

Funeral Services, 3070 -257A Street,

Aldergrove,BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a homeless

shelter or organization of your choice.
