Joan Frances McIntosh. May 7, 1926 - March 27, 2014. Passed away at Mission Memorial Hospital in Mission, BC at the age of 87. Joan was born May 7, 1926 in Winnipeg MB to John Ferguson and Mary Mildred McRae. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in Winnipeg, where she met her husband, Harold “Sandy” Alexander McIntosh, who was a medical student. They married in June 1948 in Winnipeg. The early years of their marriage took them to Prince Albert SK and then afield to New York City, Canton, Ohio and ultimately back to Prince Albert SK. Joan and Sandy built a cabin at Emma Lake, SK that they and their four children cherished for many years. In 1972 the family moved to Abbotsford, BC where Joan continued her love of curling and forged many long-lived friendships. Joan and Sandy were avid RV travelers and boaters, and spent many happy holidays on and around Cortez Island. Joan maintained close contacts with her nursing classmates and family members in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. At home, she was an accomplished seamstress and had a passion for decorating and collecting and liked to travel. Her travels included Portugal, Italy, Scotland, England, Mexico, Cuba, Hawaii and the Cook Islands. Joan is survived by her four children: Rob McIntosh (Roylene), Leita Jani Koontz (David), Juli Hedin (Stew), and Sean McIntosh.

She is also survived by five grandchildren: Caitlan, Timi, Sandi, Robbi (Dave), Scott and three great-grandchildren: Blair, Jack and Epic. Other beloved relatives include her niece Diane Wreford of Winnipeg and sister-in-law Beryl McIntosh. She is predeceased by husband Sandy in 1989, and beloved sister Donna Campbell. A Celebration of her life will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford on May 10, 2014 at 1:00 pm.
