MORTIMER - Joan Evelyn (Nee Excell)
Aug. 19, 1927 ~ Oct. 10, 2013. Joan passed away peacefully at ARH on October 10, 2013 with family by her side. She was born in Goudhurst, England and immigrated to Canada on July 1, 1958 with the family. Joan lived and worked in North Vancouver until retiring with Larry to Abbotsford in 1990. She was predeceased by her husband Larry in 1991. Joan is survived by her brother John (Shirley) and family in England, her son Tony (Gay), daughter Penny (Mike) grandchildren Kelly (Ryan), Heather (Ed), Kelly (Rebecca), Tara (Rob), Lindsay (Mandi) and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by many dear friends and two very special friends, Tom and Margaret. Joan always had a love for life and people which was a testimony to the wonderful person she was. She was the most caring, compassionate and gracious wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She had an amazing sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh. Joan taught us all many life lessons and she will remain in our hearts forever. The family wishes to thank the staff at ARH for their wonderful care and attention. There will be no service as per Joan's wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Salvation Army.
