John Cameron, affectionately known to all as Uncle John, was born on February 15, 1933 in Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland. He passed peace-fully in his sleep on June 12, 2015 at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital. His youth was spent in Stirling where he met his life long friend Bill Kerr. John was a brilliant man with a knack for mathematic equations that led him into the field of Engineering. He became a Stress Engineer working in Stirling, Glasgow and Bristol. Bill urged John to follow him to Canada and upon immigrating in 1964 he started working with Boeing in Seattle, designing parts for planes. He then continued his career working for Marietta in New Orleans, designing parts for the space shuttles for NASA. His final working years were spent in Montreal, where he worked for Bombardier until his retirement in 1998. Moving back to Abbotsford to be with his adopted family, the Kerrs, he lived a peaceful and relaxing life with daily walks, playing his guitar, painting and sketching, reading and socializing with his friends at the Learning Plus Society. John will be missed by his sister Margie (Margaret) Leckie, Aberdeen, Scotland, and her children, Alexander, Marian, Steven, John & Patricia. His adopted family in Canada, Shielagh, George, Lisa, Moira, Ryan, Bill, Taylor, Kyla, Brooke & Rory. As well as, his longtime friend, Mila Auld, and her family, who he enjoyed visiting on Saltspring Island. No service by request, Uncle John would just appreciate that when you walk his favourite places you think of him.

"Aonaibh ri chéile"

When death's dark stream I ferry o'er,

A time that surely shall come;

In Heaven itself, I'll ask no more,

Than just a Highland welcome.
