It is with deep sadness that John's family announces his passing on Nov. 22, 2009. He died suddenly, in the presence of his family, after a brief, yet valiant, battle with lung cancer. His heart could not manage the marathon he was on. Jesus took him home at 4:25 on Sunday afternoon. He will be incredibly missed by his loving wife Judy, his son Shawn (Ashley), his two daughters, Devon (Nathan) Siebenga and Dana (Kevin) Heppner, 7 grandchildren: Hadley, Presley, Riley, Gracie, Kenzie, Ivan and Ben. He will also be lovingly remembered by his Dad, Aron Martens, 4 siblings: Angie Barnes (Jim), Viola Krueger (David), Dot Hiebert (Allen), Leonard Martens (Trudi), in laws Frank and Susie Rempel and their children, Janet Kirichenko , Lorne Rempel (Moira), Stan Rempel, and Susie Burns (Keith) as well as many of his construction friends and his regular Tim Horton's crew. We would like to thank all the doctors and staff at the Abbotsford Hospital for their compassion and care. The funeral will be held at Bakerview Church on Nov. 27 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the BC Cancer Agency at www.bccancer.bc.ca.
