With great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Jonathan Fredrick Rankel (Jon) on January 30, 2023 at the age of 63.
Jon is survived by his loving wife Kris of 33 years, his son Greg and two grandchildren, Claire and Kace, along with his mother Edna, sister Kirsten (Al) and predeceased by his father Don.
Jon was born in Mission BC and took his mechanics training after graduating from Mission Senior Secondary in1977. He became a truck driver, had a son and met his wife. He and his family moved to Lumby in 1991 after touring the area on his honeymoon.
He had many skills and enjoyed building things. It did not matter what it was, snowmobiles, carburaters, hotrods (Chevy of course) boats, buses and even a beetle for his wife. He had an eye for detail, was old school and put his unique signature on all his work personally and with the Village of Lumby as their mechanic and fabricator.
From his wonderful infectious laugh to the glint in his eye when he would ask you to "just pass me the condenser" off the bench. He will be sadly missed.
There will be a private family gathering to honour Jon.
