Karen Emily Maxwell (nee Ellerback)

Born August 28, 1947, Karen passed away on October 9, 2013. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas R. Maxwell; daughters, Kerri Ann Sakakibara and Maggie Jane Maxwell; two granddaughters, Richelle Marie and Mattaya Emily; two grandsons, Derian and Declan and son in law, Darrell. Karen was born in the original Mission Hospital on 5th Ave., the daughter of Chris Ellerback (nee Verchere) and William Ellerback. She had one sister, Kathy. She leaves, also, step-brother John Kelly Jr.; Step-father John Kelly Sr. There are numerous nieces and nephews and two close friends, June Martens and Pam Hope, as well as many other lifelong friends and associates. Karen was the first Program Director with the Mission Indian Friendship Centre. She created the Mission POW WOIW. She also worked for the Federal Government. A Gathering, to celebrate Karen's life, will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Northside Community Church, 33507 Dewdney Trunk Rd., in Mission. "Our family has been and still is so blessed to have you involved in our lives. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Tom, Kerri, Maggie, Darrell, Richelle, Derian, Mattaya and Declan will always love you."
