Mom passed away peacefully on June 25, 2016 age 91 years. Born on November 9, 1924 at home in Treherne, Shell River Municipality, Manitoba, to parents Winnifred and William Johnson. She was the first child of five: Katherine, Albert, Flora, Robert and Ernie. She married Charles (Bill) Richard Speers and moved to Vancouver in 1948. Growing up Katherine enjoyed many good times with family and friends. She was a long-time employee of Woodward’s retail store in New Westminster, BC. She was a skillful knitter and seamstress and famous for her baking. Katherine had a quiet element of style, grace and dignity. She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Gerry) Innes and son George Speers, grandchildren and their spouses, and great-grandchildren, also survived by her brothers Ernie and Albert. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Private ceremony for family will be held at a later date.
Angels are always near to those who are grieving.
