January 8, 1931 - December 17, 2020
With great sadness we announce the passing of Keith Harland Souster. Dad died peacefully (and covid-free) at home on December 17, 2020, just three weeks shy of his 90th birthday.
Dad worked in the B.C. oil fields, owned and operated the gas station at Brittania Beach with his father, and worked as an assayer at Brittania mine before completing his degree and finding his niche in education. Dad held principalships in Faulkland, 100 Mile House, and Salmon Arm, B.C. before settling in as the Supervisor of Instruction in Ashcroft, B.C.
Our family holds many fond memories of times spent at our cabin on Green Lake, and Dad's garden fresh green onion sandwiches. His passion for education took us to New Aiyansh, B.C. where he was the Director of Instruction for almost three years. We were living in Maple Ridge, B.C. when he retired from teaching and found his next new passion in the real estate game. Mom and dad made a terrific team; both throughly enjoying the buying and renovating of their 'junkers'. Dad also found time to do research, filling volumes with our families genealogy. If you knew Dad you would know that he was a prolific oil painter. We have been blessed with more art to cherish and remember him by than we have walls!
Dad never met a dessert he didn't like so we will still have cake on his birthday. Lovingly remembered by his wife Evelyn of 56 years, daughters Karen (David) Janeway and Kathryn (Cam) Brewster, and grandchildren Tessa (Daryl) Gobeil and Matthew Keith Hall.
