His family’s homestead was directly across the Fraser River from where he built his home in Silverdale, BC and spent his final days. Leo worked on the river as both a tugboat owner operator of the Canim Clipper and commercial fisherman/skipper of the Canim. Leo wouldn’t imagine working or living anywhere else. During the Second World War Leo volunteered as a member of the Pacific Coast Militia Rangers (PCMR) specifically the Whonnock Company which served Whonnock, Ruskin, Silverdale and Stave River. He was also a member of the Mission Rotary Club and the Mission Rod & Gun Club. Leo enjoyed hobbies such as hunting and later in retirement wood working. He will be held dear in the hearts of his family and many friends. Respecting Leo’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. At Leo’s request, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in August 2017. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Henderson’s Fraser Valley Funeral Home, Abbotsford, BC.
