Lesile was born a British Subject to Amy and George Gilbert September 1930 in Negritos, Peru where he spent the majority of his childhood. In 1944 the family came to Coquitlam, B.C., as it was too dangerous to return to England due to the war. He attended St. Micheals University from 1945 - 1950 and continued his education, grade 8 through grade 12.
Leslie took on engineering related positions and attended night school as he worked towards his Professional Engineer certificate. Got a job with Canada Public Works and Ministry of Highways and retired after 30 years of service in 1988. His last big project was working on the Coquihalla Highway.
Leslie is survived by his spouse, Donelda and two sons, Chris, Dave and their spouses and numerous grandchildren.
We miss him with all our hearts.
