Lorna "Buntie" GREEN

June 5, 2005

Lorna "Buntie" Green, born in Vancouver on March 16, 1915, passed away peacefully at the Ebenezer Home on Sunday, June 5, 2005. Buntie was an active member for 35 years with the MSA Hospital Auxiliary. She was an avid knitter and loved knitting sweaters for children of all ages. Another pleasure of hers was volunteering at the Hospital’s Gift Shop which she happily did for many years. During WWII, she was one of the first Wrens to sign up and be sent overseas where she spent 5 years working with the British Navy in the London Communication Centre. Near the end of the War she contracted TB and was hospitalized for several months after returning home. Once well, she and her parents moved from Vancouver to make their home on McKenzie Rd. in Abbotsford. During this time Buntie was employed with the FV Regional Library. Always an avid reader … this was an ideal position for her! After the passing of her dear parents, Buntie moved to the Coachman Apts where she made her home for the last 16 years. She loved her balcony where she could feed the birds, tend to her many pots of flowers, and watch the passing traffic.

Buntie will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. A big thank you is due to the kind staff of the Ebenezer Home who so lovingly cared for her during her residency there. It was Buntie’s wish that a service not be held; however, donations to the Charity of your choice in her memory would be appreciated.
