"The Jill of all trades has hung up her hammer"
Margaret Marcell loved life. Brimming with ingenuity and gumption, there was nothing she couldn't do (except maybe cook). Her hands were never idle and whether it was a shovel, some shears, a drill, a sewing machine, a measuring tape, or a mechanical pencil, Marg was always designing, creating or re-imagining something.
Long before tiny homes were a thing, (and in a time before seat-belts) Marg turned their jeep into a mini RV for her family to travel from coast to coast with various platforms and compartments. She later did the same with their real RV when her husband, Larry, and she were snowbirds down in Arizona.
She designed and built custom furniture for her grandchildren's bedrooms and landscaped some beautiful gardens.
If not raising four kids while travelling the country with her Airforce husband, she likely would have been an architect or interior designer and built that dream home she was always planning in her mind.
Marg was a strong woman who rarely complained and never let anything keep her down for long. Her unblinking spirit sent her on many adventures, including gobbling up the pope's nose every Thanksgiving.
She loved to celebrate and could regularly be found playing bingo or cards, bowling, golfing, organizing events for her family and her community, and chatting with her neighbours and her birds.
Marg (aka Mom or Granny) will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her family; The McBrides (Michael, Marci, Jason and Liz, Abby, Emmy, and Jack); The Marcells (Dale and Donna, Andrew and Michelle, Jennifer and Dylan, Alison, Jaxon, Dylan and Indica); The Jones (Linda and D'Arcy, Mandy, Mike and Melissa, Rebecca and Andrew, Dayton, Bella, Lilie, William, JayLynn, Avie, Miri, and Freida); and The Tops ( Barbara and Wim, Chris and Mandy, Ian and Rachel, Lexi, Connor, Oliver, Adison, Sam and Eli.
Nieces, Debbie, Diana, Jean and Mary-Lynn. Nephews Wayne and Dan.
Marg is reunited on the other side with her husband of 54 years Larry Marcell, her beloved eldest daughter Shirley McBride, parents Archie and Nellie Edwards, sisters Grace Hunter and Nan Gray, brother Glyn Edwards and many dear friends and of course, pets.
