March 18, 1929 - February 23, 2021
With heavy hearts and sadness, we wish to share the passing of our much loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Margaret passed on February 23, 2021 at Peace Arch Hospital. Margaret was born on March 18, 1929 in Mission, BC into one of the prominent pioneer families in the Mission Valley.
Following high school, Margaret enrolled in St. Paul's School of Nursing (Vancouver) and graduated as a Registered Nurse. During her early years of nursing, she especially enjoyed her duties in operating rooms and maternity wards. While a student nurse, she met her love Owen who she married in 1953.
As her husband's Air Force postings evolved, she spent time in Ottawa, ON, Moose Jaw, SK, Holberg, BC and Victoria, BC. Following her husbands retirement from service, they returned to BC to be close to family where Margaret continued her education and career.
She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto and retired as the first administrator of Kinsmen Retirement Center in Tsawwassen, BC. In recognition of her contribution to the well-being of aging adults, she was honored to have a building named after her. Margaret Vidal Court is an Independent Living residence located in Tsawwassen.
Travel was a passion for Margaret, including numerous cruises and trips to Europe with Owen. After the passing of her husband, she again found companionship and continued her travels with George Angus.
Her love of golfing was legendary, along with her love of walking, an activity each of her children have inherited. Once she decided Independent Living was her lifestyle, she moved to the Pacific Carlton in South Surrey where she resided until her passing. Margaret had a great fondness for Starbuck lattes and always requested it be included when children or grandchildren visited.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Owen Raymond Vidal, her son Mark Douglas, brothers John Forbes Stuart, Alec Stuart and Douglas Lorne Stuart. She is survived by her children; Bruce Vidal (Susan), Michie Vidal (Andy Costello) and Tracey Harder (Dan), her grandchildren; Brandon, Steven, Greg, Daniel, Nicholas, Jacob, Ashley and great grandchildren; London, Faith and Lincoln. She is also survived by her brother Forbes Alistair Stuart (Mac), many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
