Marie Teresa Higginbottom, formerly Marie Teresa Martin of Mission, BC, peacefully passed away on April 12th, 2020 at the age of 99.
Marie was born in Chatham, New Brunswick in 1920 and celebrated her 99th birthday here in Mission on November 15th 2019.
Marie lived a purposeful life. She served overseas as a sergeant with the C.W.A.C in the Second World War. Following her honourable discharge in 1946, Marie and her husband Constable Edwin Pierre Higginbottom moved to a small farm in Mission, BC. where Marie committed her life to her family and the community.
She spent many years of her life volunteering at events for families and their children and consequently received a Life-time Achievement Award from the Mayor of Mission in 2004 and two lifetime memberships, one each from the Mission Elks Lodge #30 and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 57 for her continued service and community support.
Marie was predeceased by her husband Edwin Pierre Higginbottom in 2003 and her grandson Vincent Edward Higginbottom November 22, 2010. She is survived by her daughters, Tara Good and Dawn Higginbottom, her grandchildren Wesley Hillman, Summer (Casey) Merrills and great grandchildren Hudson and Marshall Merrills. Marie is also survived by Natasha Primrose who was very much like a daughter to her and a blessing in her life.
Marie had a smile and a laugh that could brighten any room. She was an inspiration to many and will be sadly missed by all those that knew her.
