Marlene Joyce (Miller)

Passed away, surrounded by her loved ones, on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at age 76. Predeceased by infant son Duncan Alford; her parents Straude and Nan Miller; three brothers Frank, Leo and Paul Miller; three sisters Juanita MacKay, Ceedy Elder and Noney Trites.

Joyfully remembered by her husband of 58 years, William; sons Terry Alford of Enderby, B.C., Tim Alford of Maple Ridge, B.C., daughters, Janice (Kevin) Krook of Cold Lake, AB, Kim (Leif) Lynum of Mission, B.C. and sister Audrey Layton of Jacksonville, FL. Also her pride and joy, grandchildren Karlee, Kale, Jesse, and Dylan.

Mom was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, July 24, 1931. Here she met and married the love of her life Bill. There they had five children. In 1968, they moved to Maple Ridge, B.C. Mom continued to work as a health care worker until retiring in 1981. Mom enjoyed many hobbies including knitting, sewing and upholstery. Mom was a great cook and loved to feed everyone. Mom’s house was always home to many extended children and grand­children. Mom had a great love of all animals. Mom and Dad spent many hours at the arenas watching their grandsons play hockey.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Neufeld for his kind care over the years. Also thanks to the girls at the lab at Ridge Meadows Hospital. Also thank you to the ICU staff, especially Paul, for his great care of Mom and our family.

A celebration of life will be held at the Lynums, Thursday, December 27 at 4:00 pm.
