July 15, 1913 – October 8, 2008
Martha Douglas, at the age of 95 went to be with her loving Lord on the evening of October 8, 2008, having lived a long and full life. She was born on July 15, 1913 in Waldheim, Saskatchewan, the fifth child of 14 children to Peter Siewert and Catherine Goertz.
Martha was devoted to her family and loved spending time together hearing what was happening in their daily lives in order to pray for the needs of each one. Martha loved to read her Bible and had read it through 42 times. She also enjoyed keeping a daily journal – her last entry was on Friday, September 26, 2008. Her sweet attitude and gentle spirit was very evident to all who met her. Up until a few months ago, Martha would call each family member on their birthday and for Christmas. Martha will be remembered for her humility, integrity, kindness and beautiful smile.

Martha is survived by daughters Ruth (Robert) Douglas Paterson and Velma (Henry) Braun, Helena Rines; sons Bill Douglas, Ken (Fay) Douglas and Fred (Gloria) Douglas. Grandchildren; Rose (Jim) Cannon, Rodney (Kim) Regier, Darren (Jackie) Braun, Laura (Jeff) Klassen as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brothers; Sam (Burness) Goertz and Edwin Goertz. Sisters; Hulda Koop, Tillie Crapo, Annie Goertz and Rosa Mae Derksen, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Martha was predeceased by her husband Art Douglas in 1992; granddaughter Cindy Regier in 1987; son and daughter-in-law Don and Nan Douglas; daughter-in-law Marge Douglas; brothers Isaac, Jake, Otto, Herb, Joe; and sisters Mary and Miriam.
The viewing will be held 7 to 9 pm on Monday, October 13 at Woodlawn Funeral Home 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. Interment will commence at Hazelwood Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 1 p.m. at Sevenoaks Alliance Church 2575 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford.
