With sadness, the family of Marvin Granville Waller announce that he passed away peacefully on March 15, 2021 at Abbotsford Regional hospital aged 82 years.
He was born February 1, 1939 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
Marv will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Cathy, his son Rob, his granddaughter Maddison and grandson Cameron as well as his sister Janice (Daryl) and in-laws Joe, Elaine, Barbara (Rudy) and Byrne along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Donna.
The date of a service is yet to be determined. If family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation. Marv was involved in both Mission and Abbotsford Minor Hockey, Hockey Canada and the Mission Granite Club.
Marv grew up in Drinkwater, SK and Moose Jaw, SK with his identical twin brother and four other siblings. After trying various jobs, he became a teacher, his first position was in Kamsack, SK where he and his new wife (Donna) spent four years and started their family. The new family of four moved to Mission, BC in 1967 where he taught at Mission Secondary for the next 32 years before retiring.
Marv and Donna were members of St. Andrew's United Church. His love of sports lead him to be a PE teacher as well as coaching and playing hockey, baseball and curling for many years in Mission. He also ran coaches clinics with Hockey Canada resulting in a trip to North Korea to train their Olympic hockey coaches in the 90's. He spent his retirement travelling with Donna in their RV until her death in 2009. He spent his final years living with his son and daughter and enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up.
