August 14, 1948 - April 12, 2023
My Penelope's (Penny) Life, condensed and written by her husband of 52 years, Garry.
Born Penelope Dawne LePage to Leo and Jean LePage on August 14, 1948 at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver. Penelope spent her young years growing up in West Vancouver, Gibsons area. Her Father was a clearing contractor for power lines etc. which brought him to Prince George in 1963, Penny was 14.
My parents moved to P.G. also in November 1964 to Penny's street. We were both now 15 and going to college. One year later, which seemed much longer because we were experiencing so many new things; new friends and new relationships, driving, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones. Suddenly Leo finished his contract and the LePage family moved back to Vancouver. Heartbreaking for me and our friends whose lives were so entwined by then. Penny and I finished school at 18 in 1967 and I also moved to Vancouver to live and work.
Penny became an Airline Stewardess after working for Famous Players Theatres in West Vancouver. Then in 1971 Penny and I Married at H.R. Cathedral in Vancouver. 4 Years later we went house hunting and ended up in Mission, where we found Hatzic Bench, the Monastery and Switzerland? Penny and I loved the area and moved into our new home Feb,1/1974, with our 2 little toddlers.
Penny worked as a supervisor for the school, during the girls' younger years. At this time Penny and I found salvation in Christ, which filled the missing part and focused us on a relationship with Christ, a wise path for the family and our eternity.
Penny made friends easily and she loved to travel, she was able to go many places. Penny drove a school bus for 20 years in the later years to retirement. Penny loved driving her Dad's old Cadillac to A&W where she would have coffee with friends.
Penny and I built our dream home at the top end of Jasper, at the trails in 1991 where we spent the next 33 years watching our children and grandchildren grow.
Penny had a heart valve replacement, which led to other health issues which led to a Stroke on Nov 22/22. Then led to her death on April 12/23 at 3am.
Penny and I were on Hatzic Bench for 50 years.
Penny Is terribly missed by family but the comfort is in the knowledge of where she is now. Christ said "I go to prepare a place for you and if it were not so I would have told you." We know that his words are true so we know we will see each other again. Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
