STUART, Peter Douglas

July 9th 1951 - Feb 11, 2009

Born in Beaupre, Quebec, Peter moved at the age of nine with his family to what was then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) where his father was manager of a paper mill. He went to a mission boarding school in South India for several years. On returning to Canada, Peter attended and graduated from Magee High School in Vancouver. He spent a year at UBC and then 2 years at BCIT graduating as a computer technologist.

He worked in Vancouver for a computer firm and later was sent to Tampa, Florida where he was in charge of both the Tampa and Miami offices. He left Florida to attend Lakehead University and graduated as an Electrical Engineer. He worked in Vancouver for a short while and then settled in the Mission area in 1980. Peter was interested in all things electrical! He was knowledgeable about early computers and was a great fixer of electrical problems for family and friends. He was also an avid amateur herbalist devising and offering herbal remedies when he perceived the need. He made many friends and touched many lives through his compassionate and helpful nature. He always managed to keep his sense of humour.

Peter is survived by his parents, Robert and Margaret Stuart of Mission and his brother Don (Pat) of Gibsons and Robert of Toronto, also, nieces Catherine (Jeff) and Kristina and nephew Bruce as well as 3 great nieces and a great nephew. All his family and friends will miss him greatly.

A memorial service will take place at 1:30pm Thursday, February 26th at St. Paul Presbyterian Church, 8469 Cedar St. in Mission. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Presbyterian World Service and Development, c/o St Paul Church for mission projects for children in India.
