Ebenstiner, Raymond, passed away peacefully at home of a heart attack on Monday, September 5th, 2011. He was born in Vancouver on October 5, 1933. He is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 56 years. They lived in Burnaby until retiring to Abbotsford in 1999. He was employed with Eaton's for 42 years, starting out in the drafting department and working his way up to become the Design Manager for all of Western Canada. Ray was predeceased by his parents John and Mildred Ebenstiner. He is survived by his sisters Norma (Maurice Quesnel), Marlene (Walt Bashuk), and his brothers Mel (Sheila), Lorne (Jennifer) and many nieces and nephews. Ray is also survived by his son Steve (Lesley), his daughter Brenda (Wes Koop) and his daughter Sheri (Ron Koop) and grandchildren Andrea (Dave Brimacombe), Eric Ebenstiner, Wayne Koop (Mandy), Warren Koop (RaeChelle), Dale Koop (Charity), Amee Koop and Sean Koop. Ray is also survived by five great-grandsons. Ray loved to travel, taking Carol on trips to China, Europe, the Maritimes, Mexico and many parts of the United States. Palm Springs was a special favorite. There were also lots of jaunts to London to watch live theatre. When Ray retired, he joined the hiking club and spent many great days hiking miles and miles all over the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley. When he moved to Abbotsford, he took up lawn bowling and enjoyed that very much. In his last weeks, we are very grateful that Ray had an opportunity to spend a day at the PNE, and participate in several family celebrations. Ray was a kind-hearted man with a ready smile and a dry wit.

He enjoyed living close to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We know that he loved us all very much and he will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 12th, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford, B.C.
