November 15, 1947 - November 26, 2024
In loving memory ~
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ray Reynolds. Ray passed on November 26 with his wife Mary Lou and long time friend at his side.
He leaves behind his wife of 51 years Mary Lou, sons Blane (Dawn) and Bradley, grandson Gus Harvey, brother Ted Scott (Donna), sisters Patricia Clarke and Linda Tsoulacas. Sister-in-laws Patricia Hatch (Wilf), Donna Rawsthorne (Scott), Joanne Ellis, brother in-laws Doug Ellis (Elizabeth) and John Ellis (Hazel) and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother Nellie Jonsson (Scott), sister Beverley Johnston & brother-in laws Lee Johnston, Larry Clarke and Gordon Ellis.
Ray was born in Abbotsford, attended school there and graduated from Abbotsford Sr. Secondary School. He held various jobs in construction, served with the Royal Westminster Regiment from 1967-1969. In 1970 he joined the Corrections Branch and worked at Haney Correctional then for 8 years at Boulder Bay Camp, Alouette Lake as an Outward Bound instructor. In 1980 transferred to Lakeview Youth Camp in Campbell River and finished his 34 year career as Director of Operations at Nanaimo Correctional Centre.
Ray had many passions one being riding his motorcycle, a sort of endurance test. He made a trip north as far as he could, then flew to Tuktoyaktuk to take a dip in the Beaufort Sea. He also rode through the eastern seaboard of the US. His highlight was to ride with his sons Blane & Bradley thru Central American stopping at the Darian Gap and returning home. In the later part of his retirement Ray enjoyed many trips to our cabin at Port Neville.
We would like to thank the 911 dispatcher, ambulance & fire attendants, the Doctors & nursing staff at ICU, and nursing and care attendants on 3B and Dr. Ramsay at North Island Hospital.
Rest in Peace my calculated risk taker.
