August 29, 1922 - February 3, 2021
Sadly, our Dad, Grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Robert (Bob) Carl Bendickson passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday night on February 3, 2021 at The Residence in Mission (TRIM).
Robert was born in Wadena, Saskatchewan August 29, 1922. His family moved to Mission in 1943 where he spent most of his time and raised his family. Robert is predeceased by his wife Lorraine, parents, John and Hilda Bendickson, siblings Pearl, Oscar, Helen, Carl, Nicolena, George, Wilma and half brother Melvin; daughter Delores, son-in-law Garnett Carrat, and grandson David; as well as many other beloved in-laws. Robert is survived by his sister Mable McRae, son Gary (Linda); and daughter Brenda Halpin; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Robert was known for a lot of things — such as a reliable and hard work ethic in the shake and shingle industry spanning some 45 years; for the look of joy on his face when he swung his partner around the dance floor whether it was square dancing, a waltz or the polka; his love for country and western music as well as the ability to play the fiddle, banjo and mandolin himself; for bargain hunter, garage sale guru and bingo player extraordinaire; and of course one can never think of Bob without marvelling at the speed he walked and distances he covered.
Sincere gratitude is extended to the many health professionals throughout Fraser Health (most recently TRIM), who have cared for Bob over the past eleven and half years keeping him safe and comfortable.
Due to COVID regulations a small service will be held at Mission Cemetery accommodating the limited number of attendees permitted.
