June 30, 1932 - October 5, 2021
In loving memory ~ Born June 30th, 1932 to Arthur (Archie) and Hannah Anderson; passed away peacefully October 5th, 2021, at the age of 89. He was predeceased by siblings Phyllis, Stanley, Kenneth, Arden, Joyce, Marion, Beverly and Sonia. He was also predeceased by his daughter Barbara and Evelyn (nee Stokes) his wife of 61 years. Bob is survived by his son John, granddaughter Amie and great-grandsons Oliver and Benny Anderson; granddaughters (Barbara's daughters) Lisa (Matt Cottier) and Erika (Cam Beals) and great-granddaughters Sunny and Silver Beals; his daughter Bonnie and granddaughters Andrea and Sarah Anderson - Caulfield. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a few lifelong friends.
Born in Matsqui, Bob worked on the family berry and dairy farm from an early age. He then worked in road construction (1950's - early 60's) and at Wright's Wire and Rope (1960's) Concurrently he began gillnetting in the 1960's. In the 1980's he started Mission Ready Mix.
After retirement he and Evelyn enjoyed travelling in their motorhome. In his latter years he played cribbage at Mission Seniors, the Legion and the Chateau.
He was primary caregiver to Evelyn until her passing on April 23rd, 2020.
Bob's childhood home was a musical one, imparting him with a love of music and dancing. While his older sister Phyllis excelled at violin, Bob's fiddling was akin to that of Jack Benny.
Bob excelled at problem solving: he once extinguished a tractor fire using his gumboot to fetch water from a pond. He was good natured, down to earth, and an egalitarian thinker. He was always there to help family and friends. Even at his end, he'd always ensure the hummingbird feeder was full. He was truly genuine and noble.
When Bob was young, his parents told him that no matter what, he could always come home. Though not religious, but truly spiritual, Bob has now gone Home.
Thank you to the staff at Mission Memorial and the Christine Morrison Hospice for their help on his journey.
