SHERWIN, ROBERT STEPHEN

August 18, 1922 - August 14, 2008

Bob Sherwin answered the call of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ early Thursday morning. He has been dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his wife of 51 years, Isabelle; his children, Lorraine (John) Sproule, Stephen, Paul, Karen and Ruth; grandchildren, Dan (Lauri) Sproule, Amy (Mark) Baker, Sarah (Brian) Dixen and five great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, John Wallis and Julia Sherwin; four brothers, Doug (Jean), George (Edith), Richard (Edith), Ken (Isla); three sisters, Winnifred, Margaret (Bob) Erickson and Joan (Bill) Brownlee.

Bob was born in 1922 in Edmonton, Alberta. He grew up in a large family during the depression years. As a young adult, he moved to California and lived with his sister and her family. He worked for his brother-in-law, Robert Erickson and learned the sign painting trade. Bob enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in England during World War II.

On June 8, 1957, Bob married Isabelle (Grue) and moved to Redding, California, where they lived for 17 years. Their children were all born in Redding. In 1974, he moved with his family to Sherwood Park, Alberta. They spent 17 years in Alberta where Bob continued his outdoor advertising business. He retired in 1990 and after some traveling, Bob and Isabelle moved to Abbotsford.

Bob's interests included traveling, reading, sign and landscape painting, cooking, playing various musical instruments and spending time with his family. He proclaimed his faith in Jesus Christ boldly and consistently. Bob's family is extremely grateful for the compassionate care Bob received from the entire staff at Worthington Pavilion for the past 3 and a half years. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Friday, August 22, 2008 at Heritage Alliance Church, 3440 Mt. Lehman Road, Abbotsford, BC.
