Roy Kelso, age 85 of Abbotsford, British Columbia passed away on April 29, 2015. He was born, the youngest of nine children, on July 7, 1929 in Douglas, Isle of Man. Roy spent the first 25 years of his life on the island where he attained his journeyman plumber's certificate and met his future wife, Phyllis Corrin. Roy immigrated to Canada in 1955; Phyllis joined him shortly after and the two were married in November of the same year. Roy and family lived in three provinces and two states before establishing roots in Abbotsford, BC in 1971. In 1994 he retired from the Abbotsford School District where he was remembered for his impact in building a vibrant social culture with support staff. Roy was an active member of the Freemasons and The Order of Eastern Star. He was most at home on the golf course, a past president of Ledgeview Golf and Country Club where he was a member for over four decades. Roy is remembered as a gentle, kind man with an engaging sense of humour, who had a gift for putting people at ease. Roy is survived by his wife, Phyllis and their children: Corinne Stevenson (Harold), Glenn Kelso (Carol) and Jo-Anne Lardeur (Greg). He is also survived by six grandchildren. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at the Cancer Clinic at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and the nursing staff and volunteers at Christine Morrison Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Christine Morrison Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice. A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 - 6:00 PM on May 15, 2015 at Ledgeview Golf & Country Club.
