Samuel MEACHEM

Samuel Thomas Meachem passed away, September 27, 2004 at the Dr. Stuart Extended Care Pavilion in Mission, B.C. in his 97th year. Born in Rossland, B.C., the family moved to the Carrot River Saskatchewan area where they were grain farmers for many years, and where most of his family and friends remain. He is survived by his daughter Laura (Rod) Webster of Mission, B.C.; brother Alfred (Mathilda) Meachem of Carrot River, Saskatchewan; brother-in-law Carsten (Ann) Johnson of Carrot River, Saskatchewan; and sisters-in-law Mildred, Kathy, Elsie and Sandy (Travis) Hogg and families. Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins spread across the western provinces. Predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Inga, in April 2000; brothers Frank, Clarence (Mable), Bill (Carmen), Phil, Mervyn, Bert (Margaret), Earl, and Raymond Meachem. Also, first wife, Muriel Stansfield in 1944, and son Merle in 1983.

Rev. Gerald Evans, grandson of Frank Meachem Sr., will be officiating at the funeral service to be held in the Bethel Pentacostal Church in Mission, Thursday, September 30, 2004, 1:30 p.m., followed by interment in Hatzic Cemetery. Reception at 34111 York Avenue.

Laura and Rod thank the staff at the Extended Care Unit for their constant loving support and care for Sam. Heartfelt thanks also to Sam’s niece from Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Ruby McAdam, who came to Mission and helped out so graciously in his final week.
