December 11, 2021
Sandra Jean Pughe was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly at her home on December 11, 2021 at age 72.
She was born in New Westminster and grew up in Maple Ridge before moving to Mission in 1978. For the next several years she worked incredibly hard attaining her nursing degree and raising her four children. She met the love of her life, Jack Pughe, in 1985 and they began a life together full of amazing adventures.
Nursing was Sandra's calling as caring for others was the foundation of who she was. She retired in 2017 but continued with her volunteer efforts. The Mission Hospice Society held a special place in her heart.
Never one to keep still, Sandra was always busy! She loved to travel with her family, sew, knit, golf, kayak, paddle board, bowl, read and the list goes on. She enjoyed many years at her property at Black Mountain Ranch and had a passion for shopping! Sandra was a woman of deep faith and commitment to God and more than anything, Sandra loved helping those in need - family, friends and strangers.
Sandra is pre-deceased by her father and mother, Kenneth and Ruth Buchanan; her brother, Robert Buchanan; her son Matthew James Brown in 1988 and her husband Jack Pughe in 2015. We are all taking comfort in the knowledge that she is reunited with them now and together they are watching over and protecting us.
Sandra's passing will leave a huge void in the lives of so many, but especially her three children, Richard Brown (Chiquita) , Nancy Scarrow (Don) and Laura Blake (Wil); her four step-children, Debby Creighton (Rob), Nancy Paul (Mike), Robert Pughe (Krissy), Douglas Pughe (Sharon), her 19 grandchildren, her 10 great-grandchildren, her 7 siblings, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be forever loved and never forgotten. May we all become better human beings because of the incredible influence she had on us.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date once it is safe enough for a gathering. No flowers please but donations in her name can be sent to the Mission Hospice Society and/or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
