Sarah MacDougall, 54, passed away due to complications from breast cancer, surrounded by loved ones on September 22nd, 2024, in Abbotsford Regional Hospital, BC.

Born on March 7th, 1970, in Palmerston, Ontario, she was the adopted daughter of Brock and Sandra Short.

Sarah moved to Vancouver, BC as a young adult. This is where she would meet her husband, the love of her life, Ashley (Craig) MacDougall. They moved to Mission, BC, to raise their two beloved children.

Sarah lovingly homeschooled her children before starting her career as a teacher. Most notably, she worked at James Cameron School in Maple Ridge as a dedicated elementary teacher. She adored her time there. She was excellent at creating an environment where her students could thrive. She was well-respected and cherished by her students, coworkers, and parents.

Known for her beautiful heart and lively personality, she was loved dearly by a bounty of amazing people. Sarah was easy to get along with and a delight to be around. She could brighten any room, and lighten any mood. She could find beauty in everything - no matter how ugly things could be.

Sarah is survived by her husband of 23 years, Ashley; her daughter Emily Ann Heselton and her child Josephine Ann Heselton; her son Wyatt Craig MacDougall; her father Brock Keene Short; her adoptive brother Andrew Carlyle Short; and biological brother Timothy Ryan Boggs.

Predeceased by her mother Sandra Muriel Short and her biological father Gerald A. Montgomery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to James Cameron School.
