RAU Sharon Ann Rau of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the age of 57 years. She leaves to cherish her memory three brothers, Larry (Grace) Rau of Fort Worth, Texas, Ralph (Shirley) Rau of Medicine Hat and Glen (Linda) Rau of Abbotsford, B.C. as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Hilda and Jacob Rau. Sharon was born on March 7, 1951 in Calgary, Alberta. In 1969 she graduated from high school at Beiseker, Alberta and attended North American Baptist College in Edmonton for one year. She received her B.A. in Library Science and Elementary Education from Northwestern College, Orange City, Iowa. Sharon worked for 20 years as a Teacher, Librarian. She started four libraries from scratch and was the District Library Coordinator for the County of 40 Mile in Alberta. Sharon spent one year in the Philippines with O.M.F as a Missionary- In-Training at Language School in Batangas, Philippines. She spent five years in White Rock at the Heritage Christian School, 10 years in Abbotsford at Valley Christian School, seven of those as Librarian. The last eight years Sharon has been on disability from B.C.T.F. Mission School District. In her spare time she enjoyed music, crafts, gardening, reading, cats, collecting poetry and decorating her home. Afghans and crafts were given by her, as gifts of love to those she knew and loved. Her precious feline friend, Sunshine, will miss her dearly. The funeral service was held in Hillcrest Evangelical Missionary Church (3785 13th Ave SE) on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Bolender officiating.
