Nov 2, 1933 - May 28, 2018
After a long and courageous battle with cancer it is with great heartache and sadness to have to announce the passing away of our beloved Terry Boersma. Terry was born in Sneek, Holland, the youngest of 4 boys. He was 17 when he left the Netherlands and came to BC to be with his brother Joe. Shortly afterwards he met the love of his life Betty Lue Boersma (Edwards) of Mission, they were married in 1956.

Terry dedicated 35 years of service to BC Gas and made a lot of friendships through the years working there. He had a serious love for fishing, and enjoyed the wide open sea. On holidays he would take his family and boat up to Pender Harbour, where he would cast out his line ready for a good fight with a fish, he'd rarely come back to shore empty handed, usually with a spring or cod but likely he had both.

He also had a passion for gardening, every year he would have his veggies to share and be proud of. He was admired for his strong will, positive attitude, big heart and sense of humour. He was always willing to give someone a chance or a helping hand and his door was always open to those he knew, he always enjoyed the chance to entertain company, whether it was on the ocean or at home everyone was welcome.

He was a very loving husband, Dad and Papa, as well as a caring brother, uncle and friend. Predeceased by his parents Auke and Sijke Boersma and his 3 older brothers Rinze, John and Joe Boersma. Leaving behind his very loving and devoted wife of 62 years Betty Lue, his daughter Kimberley ("the kid") and grandson Caleb. Along with many nieces, nephews and close friends.

We want to thank all the doctors and nurses from Mission and Abbotsford Hospitals who were there to help us a long the way. Due to Terry's request, there will not be a service held at this time, but sometime this summer, we may have an open house for those who knew him well, we will let you know.

We would greatly appreciate any donations you may have to please be made to the Cancer Society or Children's Hospital. Thank you for all the love and support. For those who knew him may the memory of his warm smile and happy laugh bring a smile to your face....

~ I love you to the moon, stars and back again.

You are

forever my hero, Dad ~
