Schaffer, Walter Rudolf

Walter passed away into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission, B.C. at the age of 85 years old.

He is survived by his loving wife Beatrice, his sister Claire, his four sisters-in-law Irene (Pat), Myrt, Mildred & Mabel, his three daughters Shery (Bruce), Margo (Wes) and Wendy (Brad), his sons, Gregg (Cathy) Terry and his honourary son Bryan Barrett. Walter is also survived by nine grandchildren Patrice, Danielle (Tim), Kelly, David, Andrew, Kyle, Stevie, Nicole and Jamie and 3 great grandchildren Aiden, Hannah, and Grace.

Walter is predeceased by his parents, his parents in law, one brother, two sisters and two brothers in law.

Walter will be joining his predeceased grandson Andrew Crawford Barbour and they will be fishing together forever.

Walter was a World War II Veteran. He was also known for having two speeds Stop and Go. Walter had three passions in life. During his early years in Saskatchewan Walter and his wife, Beatrice owned Camp Grayling in Stony Rapids, Saskatchewan. Later on he built 1929 Mercedes Kit Cars and raffled them for non profit organizations such as the Kinsmen Club of Aldergrove. His main passion, however, was heavy duty mechanic.
