BUGDEN, (nee Butcher). Winifred Helen

Passed away peacefully in Mission, BC on April 21, 2011, in her 87th year. Helen leaves behind to celebrate her life, her husband of 47 years, Garry Bugden, their children Fred (Darlene) of Kamloops, Ann (Chris) of Mission, and Jennifer (Rob) of New Westminster, their grandchildren Amanda and Ian, and special nephew John Marriage of Calgary. Predeceased by her only sister Mary Marriage. Helen was born in Moose Jaw SK, but at an early age her family relocated to Burnaby and later settled in Abbotsford. She attended the St. Paul's School of Nursing, graduating as an R.N. in 1946. She worked at MSA Hospital, mainly in the maternity unit, retiring in 1992. She met Garry in 1955, they married in 1964 and settled in Abbotsford to raise their family. Many happy days were spent at the cottage on Hatzic Lake with friends and family always welcome. They later moved to East Mission, overlooking the Hatzic Prairie. Helen will be remembered for her ever-present smile and good humour. Despite being severely afflicted with arthritis, she never let it affect her disposition and her positive outlook on life.In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Christine Morrison Hospice at the Mission Memorial Hospital, where Helen spent her final days is appreciated. The family wishes to thank the very kind staff at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and the Hospice for making Helen's final days comfortable. A memorial service, followed by a tea, will be held on April 29, 2011, at 2:00 pm, at Trinity Memorial United Church, 33737 George Ferguson Way, in Abbotsford. Rev. Connie Thompson will officiate.
