Family appreciated outpouring of support

Mission's Rick Butchart was well-known throughout Mission

Editor, The Record:

My family and I wish to take the opportunity to thank all the wonderful people who attended by husband Rick's celebration of life.

It was a testimony to everything that RIck was: a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. Rick was also a volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society, Mission and District Lions Club, Soap Box Derby, MCC Thrift Store, and many more.

In later years he enjoyed making people happy with his garden ornaments (arbors, gates, window bars, etc.) made from recycled metal. He gave away many of his creations just to see people's expressions of joy. As his ill health progressed, he was still very optimistic about his life, and when he lost his speech, he was still able to give a thumbs up. Rick will never be forgotten, and we will remember him always in our hearts.

He was a very special, giving man, caring and compassionate.

Our family would also like to thank Christine Morrison Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Rick.

He would have been very happy at the outpouring of love and caring. That was what he was all about.
