Heritage to Hatzic run well organized

Editor, The Record:

On behalf of all of the Heritage to Hatzic runners who participated in last weekend's 10K and 5K race, I just wanted to personally thank each and every member of the Mission Hillstompers and their friends who came out and volunteered to hand out drinks, food, coffee, timing chips, race packages, and to guard corners and tell us which way to go.

The race was flawless, in my opinion. I loved the new route. You had us weave through Heritage Park, and took advantage of the widened and surfaced woodsy trail. It was a smart race route decision, because it minimized how much we had to repeat the route. I found the road marshals friendly and attentive. It was extra fun for me because I had a long run planned for my triathlon training so I went back out and did the route again!

The food was great, the coffee was awesome, the draw prizes impressive, and the awards ceremony very prompt.

I am not a Hillstomper. I train for triathlon so I find it necessary to schedule my workouts quite specifically and therefore run solo, but I must say that to have such a giving club in our town makes me proud to be a Mission runner.

I heard nothing but good comments from around me.

This must be about the 10th race for me, and even though I'm getting older (55 this year!) I'm having more fun than ever when I race here in Mission.
