Joe would have been proud

Editor, The Record:

On Aug. 22, family and friends gathered together in memory of Jozsef Csaszar and hosted a barbecue for the homeless and hungry.

Anyone struggling or needing a free meal was welcome. There was a great turn out and this event was a wonderful experience for those attending, as well as those cooking, and we all met new friends.

I would like to thank all the family and friends who attended and donated food and time all day. We would like to thank the Mission Legion Branch #57 for allowing us to use their tent. Also a big thank you goes out to Save on Foods, Real Canadian Superstore and Safeway for their gift card donations which help tremendously with food as well as McDonalds for providing the ice.

This was a wonderful experience for everyone that attended, a great way for the community to get together and to do something great. This started as an idea from a wonderful young man named Joe Csaszar. Thank you, Joe, for teaching us that giving is far better than receiving.

You would have been proud of this event!
