As an animal advocate since 1995 it has and is always my concern for proper treatment of animals, so it is distressing to learn many may have been in distress and resulted in a warrant and seizure of those from Mission’s The Reptile Guy.
The SPCA is charged with protecting animals and to enforce the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act and ought to be doing so in a fair and constructive manner.
It follows, all animals in the Reptile Guy facility would have been documented upon securing and thus should be reasonably easy to determine condition and progress, that would verify if a condition is persisting or possibly lack of attention and care may have caused deterioration of condition.
The BCSPCA must act upon best medical advice and if the subsequent decision was to apprehend the animals in distress we must accept some credibility exists to do so.
I believe all efforts reasonable to assist the facility with animals care is warranted but that said, other variables need to be given careful consideration given the onus to operate an acceptable facility lies with the Reptile Guy.
