LETTER: District staff departures disheartening

Capacity to provide effective services to residents weakened

It is disheartening to hear of the departures at municipal hall. Staff expertise and their investment in the community cannot be undervalued.

With their loss, we weaken our capacity to provide effective services to the residents. Now, delays and mistakes are inevitable as new employees learn the ropes while attempting to satisfy the demands of the chief administrative officer and council.

A positive working environment is critical to getting the job done.

It is worrisome when  both councillors Tony Luck and Nelson Tilbury at the March 3 council meeting had echoed their disappointment with the behaviour of the mayor.

One has to wonder if the exodus of staff is tied to comments made by the councillors at that meeting.
