LETTER: Praise, thanks from staff

District of Mission thanks staff who aided with wildfire support

The District of Mission thanks staff who have recently returned from the interior supporting the emergency response centre in Williams Lake and emergency operations in Prince George.

Captain Mark Goddard and Assistant Chief Blaine Odenbach with the Mission Fire/Rescue Service and Chris Knowles, manager of information services with the District of Mission, have recently returned from Williams Lake, where they were working with the emergency operations centre.

Emergency social services coordinator Gina Albanese has also returned from providing support in Prince George, where Fire Chief Dale Unrau is currently deployed.

“Council is proud of our employees for their role in supporting the response to the BC wildfires. Their skill and experience is an asset to our own emergency operations centre as well as to the Province of BC during times of emergency.

“Council thanks our staff for their commitment to serving our community and the province as a whole,” said Mayor Randy Hawes.

The District of Mission thanks all our staff for their dedication and support during this provincial emergency.
