For the 25th consecutive year, an Abbotsford high school claimed top spot at the Upper Fraser Valley zone high school wrestling tournament.

The event, hosted by W. J. Mouat Secondary on Feb. 17 and 18, saw the host Hawks earn top spot in the boys division by beating out Surrey's Lord Tweedsmuir and Abbotsford Traditional.

Abbotsford's Rick Hansen placed seventh, while Yale Secondary finished ninth.

The victory was the record sixth team win in the boys division for the Hawks.

Top spot in the girls division went to Maple Ridge, with Mission Secondary finishing second and Mouat placing third.

Hansen's Navdeep Toor was a standout at the event, winning gold in the boys 57 kilogram division, and also earning most outstanding male wrestling honours.

Mission's Victoria Seal, who won the female 54 kg division, was named most outstanding female wrestler.
