The Mission Cedar Kings stumbled down the stretch, but the West Central Senior C Lacrosse League club has an invite to the postseason and now knows their first-round opponent.

Mission fell 12-7 to the Ladner Pioneers on July 18, and things really fell apart in the third period of the team.

The game was tied two after one, and Mission actually had a 5-4 lead heading into the final frame but Ladner took over to earn the win.

Brenton Graham led the way for the Cedar Kings with four goals and one assist, while Cody Thompson added one goal and three assists. Gavan Sand had a two-point night (one goal, one assist), and Thomas Sand also added a goal. Tyler Voisey and Mitch Cavallarin contributed with two assists apiece, and Joel Dahlgren, Jordan Halonen and John Makowsky all had one helper.

Mission then wrapped up the season with an 11-5 loss to the Port Coquitlam Hitmen on Saturday.

Goal scorers on Saturday were: Graham (two), Thompson, Makowksy and Owen Munro.

Mission finished fourth overall in the WCSCLL standings and faced the Hitmen in round one of the playoffs in a one-game winner-take-all battle on Wednesday but results were not available at press time.

If successful, Mission would move on to play either the Coquitlam Cobras or Port Moody Express in the league semifinals in a best-of-three series starting on Saturday.

Game two of that series would be on July 31, with game three, if necessary, occurring on Aug. 1.
