With playoffs fast approaching, the Mission Cedar Kings were humbled by the defending West Central Senior C Lacrosse League champions on Sunday.

Mission fell behind 5-0 to the Port Moody Express after one, trailed 7-0 after two and then got on the board twice in the final frame to lose 7-2 in Port Moody.

Steve Aldcroft had a goal and one assist, with Brenton Graham also scoring and John Makowksy adding one assist.

The Cedar Kings’ record drops to 10-5-1 with the loss, and they sit in fourth place in the WCSCLL standings.

Mission still has allowed the least amount of goals in the league, letting up just 81 goals in the club’s 16 games.

Despite the loss, Mission qualified for the playoffs this weekend. The playoff final seedings will be determined after the weekend.

The Cedar Kings returned to action on Wednesday night against the Ladner Pioneers in North Delta, but results were not available at press time. The club then takes on the Port Coquitlam Hitmen on Saturday in Port Coquitlam to wrap up the WCSCLL regular season.

League officials stated on Tuesday that it’s likely that the playoffs will begin on Wednesday, July 25 with a pair of knockout games, with the semifinals getting underway on Saturday, July 28.
