After a four-game slide, the Mission Cedar Kings are back in the win column after a pair of West Central Senior C Lacrosse League regular-season games over the weekend.

Mission returned to action on Saturday, falling 5-4 to the undefeated Coquitlam Adanacs in Port Coquitlam.

The Cedar Kings got goals from Jim Nishiuama, Cody Thompson, John Makowsy and Mike Lowe. Goalie Jeff Lissimore made 39 saves in a losing cause.

Mission bounced back on Sunday to end the club’s losing streak, with a 6-2 win over the North Shore Indians in Langley.

Tyler Voisey, Cody Thompson, Aaron Lissimore (two), Gavan Sand and Travis Laycock contributed with goals for the Cedar Kings, while Jeff Lissimore stopped 32 shots to earn the win.

The Cedar Kings’ record now stands at seven wins, six losses and one overtime loss, and the club is tied for fourth in the 10-team WCSLL.

Mission takes a week off this weekend, but returns to action on July 9, when they take on the Port Coquitlam Hitmen in Port Moody. The WCSLL season wraps up for the Cedar Kings with another game against the Hitmen on July 15 in Port Coquitlam and then against the Richmond Roadrunners in Langley on July 16.

The Cedar Kings also have a Canada Day pub night fundraiser at The 14th Avenue Pub on Saturday.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m., and $25 gets a burger and a beer, with some of the proceeds going to the team. Prizes will also be given away.
