William Robertson got his BC Winter Games off to a roaring start Thursday morning in Langley.
In front of nearly 100 spectators sitting poolside at the Walnut Grove Community Centre, the Zone 6 (Vancouver Island-Central Coast) diver snagged a gold medal in convincing fashion, with his aggregate score of 226.55 besting the rest of the field by more than 50 points in the Boys ‘C’ three-metre dive competition.
Robertson’s mark was a fair distance ahead of second-place finisher Brady Diduck of Zone 2 ( ) who finished with a score of 164.25 in the finals.
Toby Verchere of Zone 5 (Vancouver-Squamish) rounded out the medal count , with his total dive score of 148.85 good enough for the bronze medal.
Only four divers took part in the event, with a fourth, Zone 6’s Mathew Williams, scratched from the competition beforehand.
