Doorwarz returns to Mission Raceway

Event on during Canada Day weekend, Pro Drift event set for next week

BC-based racing fans are in for a big treat during the next two weekends at Mission Raceway Park.

This holiday weekend the 10th anniversary version of the infamous Doorwarz event will include a very special dimension as two of NHRA drag racing’s biggest name FuelTech Pro Modified Series class drivers will participate.

Mission’s Justin Bond and his race stable mate Khalid Al Balooshi (from Bahrain) are set to race.

Bond will be driving his pro-charger ’69 Camaro while Al Balooshi is scheduled to be at the controls of his supercharged 2022 Camaro.

Bond, who began racing in 2010, experienced a break-out year in 2020, scoring his first career win, setting a world record and making racing history at the Houston Raceway Park in Texas on Oct. 25, 2020.

The local racer is also the founder and owner of JBS Equipment, an agricultural-machinery manufacturer in Mission.

According to the raceway’s website, Doorwarz, a four day event, has several classes running including – Bubba’s Speed Shop Non Electronics, Image Motorsports Electronics, Peden Industries JR Street, JR Thunder, JR Lightning, Canada West Doorslammer, West Coast Outlaw Limited Street, MDA Fabrication Outlaw 275, Outlaw 10.5, West Coast Pro Mod and Top Fuel Harley.

June 30: Test & Tune

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

June 30: Radial Testing

5-9 p.m.

July 1: Test & Tune

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

July 1: Evening Qualifying

5-11 p.m.

July 2: Racing

10 a.m. start.

July 3: Racing

10 a.m. start.

Doorwarz 10, Powered By Titanium Autogroup, begins June 30 and runs until July 3. Tickets are available at the gate. Mission Raceway is located at 32670 Dyke Road.

Spec-D Prospec Shootout

For the second time in Spec-D competition history, the 2022 Spec-D Championship will be decided by a single shootout style event.

This year’s event will take place July 8-9 at Mission Raceway Park.

On July 10, they will feature Spec-D Pro BroDown, an open drift event that allows grassroots drivers to drive on track with Spec-D Pro drivers.

This is the top Pro Drift event in Canada. Spec-D is organizing this event and hosts drift events throughout western Canada – the largest is here in Mission.

The event runs:

July 8 – 5-9 p.m.

July 9 – 5-11 p.m.

July 10 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Spec-D event is the Pro shootout style event with drivers from across Canada and the U.S. This year’s special guest is Formula drift driver Chelsea DeNofa.

This is a great event for the whole family, car show, food, vendors and the best drivers battle it out all weekend.

You can meet the drivers and Sunday and get a ride-along with some of your favourite racers.
